A man and woman were rescued from the ocean at Panther Beach in Santa Cruz County Tuesday afternoon. The couple was fishing on the rocks when they were swept into the water, according to Cal Fire. The circumstances leading up to the incident were not immediately clear. Rescue swimmers from the Santa Cruz Fire Department and California State Parks Public Safety pulled them from the water and provided medical aid. A Cal Fire helicopter then hoisted them up the steep cliff before they were taken to a hospital.
