Carnegie Mellon University to open Miami campus with $2B donation from Citadel CEO

Carnegie Mellon University, the prestigious institution based in Pennsylvania, will be opening a campus in Miami following a landmark donation from Citadel founder and CEO Ken Griffin. According to the university , Griffin donated $3 billion, “the largest individual gift in the history of higher education.” The gift includes $1 billion for the school’s Pittsburgh campus, and $2 billion to launch Carnegie Mellon University Miami, “a major research university campus that will be built to pioneer a new model for higher education.” The plan is to create a 35-acre state-of-the art campus located in Wynwood that will start enrolling students in 2028.
