Man charged in NYC hit-and-run that killed former Nickelodeon star Kianna Underwood

The driver in a Brooklyn hit-and-run crash that killed a former Nickelodeon child actress has been arrested, according to police. Michael Griffiths was charged Tuesday morning in connection to the death of Kianna Underwood in Jan. 2026, police said. Underwood was crossing an intersection in Brownsville on Jan. 16 when she was struck by a black Ford Explorer SUV. While lying in the street, the 33-year-old was then “subsequently struck by a black and gray sedan,” the NYPD said at the time. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said both drivers left the scene. Eight months later, the 72-year-old Griffiths was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Attorney information for him was not immediately available. Underwood starred in Nickelodeon’s popular children’s sketch comedy show, “All That,” over seven episodes in 2005.
