Presidential Candidate Iotova Calls for Unity, Dialogue, Says Presidential Institution Must Unite Bulgarians

Meeting with residents of Pleven on Tuesday, presidential candidate Iliana Iotova said the presidential institution should be a place for different parties, institutions, citizens and civil society organizations, not one of division, hatred and confrontation. She also said that anyone who does not know their history is betraying their national heritage, and those who want to rewrite and erase Bulgarian history have no right to govern the country. Iotova told the people of Pleven that she and vice-presidential candidate Kiril Valchev were seeking their blessing and trust, believing that Bulgaria's future lies in national consensus, dialogue and the pursuit of common causes, while honouring its history and virtues and standing together with all Bulgarians. She said Bulgaria lies between two military conflicts, stressing that peace is achieved through negotiations, not war and ultimatums.
