Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil Visits St George the Victorious Church in Jordan

Bulgarian Patriarch and Sofia Metropolitan Daniil visited the Church of St George the Victorious in Fuheis, Jordan, during his visit to the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, the Bulgarian Patriarchate said on Tuesday. Daniil also met with King Abdullah II of Jordan. The meeting was attended by Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, Nevrokop Metropolitan Seraphim, Archbishop Christophoros of Kyriakopolis, Archimandrite Theophilos, and the King’s Chief Adviser for Religious and Cultural Affairs, Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad. Patriarch Daniil was welcomed by the clergy and Orthodox Christians of the local parish, accompanied by Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and Archbishop Christophoros of Kyriakopoulos. The Church of St George the Victorious is among the most significant Orthodox churches in the city. Consecrated in the late 19th century, it is one of the oldest functioning Orthodox churches in this part of Jordan. Today, it also operates as a monastic complex with active social programmes,
