A Kyivan Elegy – Babyn Yar

On Sept. 29, 1941, the Nazi occupation forces gathered Kyiv’s Jews and brought them to a ravine on the outskirts of the city – to be summarily shot and buried. In two days more than 30,000 were killed. Thus began one of the biggest mass slaughters of the Holocaust. By the end of the war more than 100,000 Kyivans were buried there.
