Why does the Eagles' running game fizzle out in the second half?

The Eagles finally got the running game going. Then it just died. Saquon Barkley had a big first half Monday night in Chicago, and the Eagles for a while looked like they had some things figured out with their struggling running game and shaky offense. Barkley ran 11 times for 73 yards before halftime but just four times for nine yards in the second half. So far this year, Barkley is averaging 6.5 yards per carry before halftime on 21-for-137, and that 6.5 average is 2 nd -highest among running backs with at least 10 1 st -half carries, behind only James Cook’s 7.3. Completely different story in the second half. Barkley is averaging just 2.9 yards per carry after halftime on 13-for-37. That ranks 38 th among 43 running backs with at least 10 2 nd -half carries.
