Atmos contract workers hospitalized after pipe ‘exploded' in Dallas Monday: DFR

Dallas police, fire, and Atmos Energy responded to a reported gas leak at the Alexan Riveredge Apartments in the Design District neighborhood of the city this morning. Dallas police assisted with traffic control; Atmos shut off the gas and is fixing the affected line; and Dallas Fire-Rescue transported two Atmos contract workers to the hospital. The condition of the workers who were hospitalized is unclear at the time of this writing. Fire-Rescue said their injuries were “non-critical.” The fire department said no civilians or firefighters were hurt, “and there was no impact to the apartment or neighboring businesses.” The fire department said, “A contractor was pressure testing a gas line, which somehow exploded during the process.” The fire department could not say whether the incident that happened this morning is related to the initial gas leak that displaced hundreds more than a week ago.
