Nima Momeni seeks new trial in killing of Cash App founder Bob Lee

Lawyers for Nima Momeni, the man convicted of killing Cash App founder Bob Lee, are expected back in a San Francisco courtroom Monday as they seek a new trial. A recent appeal under the Racial Justice Act was denied, and Momeni’s lawyers are filing a new trial motion Monday based on other claims. Momeni was convicted of second-degree murder in December 2024 in the stabbing death of Lee. Police said Lee and Momeni knew each other and had gotten into an argument over Momeni’s sister. A jury found Momeni guilty of stabbing Lee three times with a kitchen knife, including twice in the chest, in a secluded area at the foot of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Body camera video showed Lee walking along San Francisco’s Main Street in the early morning hours before eventually collapsing near a residential building. Lee later died from his injuries, but not before calling 911. That phone call was presented during the trial. Momeni has not yet been sentenced because of the appeals. San Franci
