US and China release $60 billion nonsensitive product lists for tariff cuts after Trump-Xi meeting

The United States and China have released lists of products worth about $30 billion each that will see tariff cuts. This deal is expected to help boost bilateral trade. The announcement follows a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump in Washington. The U.S. had already reduced tariffs against China after Trump’s tariffs reached as high as 145% last year. China’s commerce ministry stated that the agreement will help strengthen trade cooperation. The lists, released Monday, include 1,619 U.S. goods entering China and 77 categories of Chinese goods exported to the U.S. Beijing says tariff rates on over 90% of the products will be subject to “most-favored-nation” levels, effectively eliminating country-specific tariffs.
