Larry Keefe named head of Florida Department of Law Enforcement

TALLAHASSEE — Larry Keefe, a former U.S. attorney and the man behind the DeSantis administration’s move in 2022 to fly about 50 migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard, is becoming Florida’s top law enforcement official. Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Keefe as the next head of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Tuesday morning. The Florida Cabinet confirmed Keefe the same morning. Keefe did not respond to the Times/Herald’s questions on when he will start the job, nor when he found out about his new role. The Cabinet is made up of Florida’s attorney general, chief financial officer and agriculture commissioner. None offered comments during Keefe’s confirmation. “At every position he’s had, he performed at the highest possible level,” DeSantis said. “Larry will lead the agency with distinction, ensuring the rule of law and public safety remain a top priority.” Keefe will take over for Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Mark Glass, a four-year veteran of the job, who
