10 migrants found on boat off Fort Lauderdale transferred to the Bahamas, USCG says

A group of 10 migrants were transferred to the Bahamas on Sunday after they were found on a boat off Fort Lauderdale, authorities said. The group was found on Friday on a 30-foot vessel that was about 40 miles east of Fort Lauderdale, U.S. Coast Guard officials said. Crew from the Coast Guard Cutter Robert Yered boarded the boat and took them into custody. “In the face of daunting, 8-foot seas, the crew of the Robert Yered demonstrated extraordinary professionalism and dedication for hours on end,” said Lt. Richard Rodriguez, the cutter’s commanding officer. “It is precisely this level of steadfast commitment that allows us to succeed in our missions.
