Teen shot with air rifle, others confronted while trying to prank Joliet residents

Will County deputies responded to multiple confrontations involving residents and teens who were attempting to prank them on Friday night. One of those confrontations resulted in a teen being shot with an air rifle, with that teen hospitalized for multiple internal injuries. According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, a group of teens parked near the intersection of Byrum and Hel Mar in Joliet on Friday night, with the aim of TPing a house. While on the property, the teens were confronted by residents of the home, and though the teens were able to flee the scene uninjured, the vehicle they were driving did suffer damage, according to authorities. A second group of teens was also parked near a residence in the same area, and when they exited the vehicle, they reported that they had lasers pointed at them. At that time, an individual fired an air rifle at the teens, striking one in the chest. That 17-year-old suffered chest and lung injuries, and was transferred to a Chicago hospital
