A Vallejo police officer’s SUV caught fire on Thursday in Fairfield, according to authorities. The incident occurred on I-80, near the Abernathy Road exit in Fairfield. As soon as the officer saw smoke coming from the rear of the cruiser, the officer pulled over right away and got out safely. Fire crews arrived quickly to put out the flames, which intensified after road flares, stored inside the SUV ignited. Investigators say an electrical problem in the rear of the vehicle caused that fire.
