In today's GB News Daily Reflection, we remember that Jesus's invitation isn't to pretend we're better than we are, but to turn to him and receive the mercy he's come to say freely give. "Jesus once told a group of religious people a story about two sons. Their father asked them both to work in his vineyard. The first says no, but later changes his mind and goes. The second says, of course, but never does. And Jesus asks which of the two did what his father wanted? And the people reply, the first. But Jesus then makes the story rather more uncomfortable. "He says that people notorious for their wrongdoing were entering God's kingdom ahead of the outwardly religious people he was speaking to. Why? Not because wrongdoing doesn't matter. The first son was wrong to refuse his father, but he changed his mind. He stopped resisting and went. Jesus point isn't that if we do what we're told, perhaps God will receive us.
