Bulgarian Turkologist Receives Award from Turkish Language Association in Ankara

Assoc. Prof. Menent Shukrieva, a lecturer in Turkish Language and Literature at Konstantin Preslavsky University of Shumen, was honoured for her contribution to the development and promotion of the Turkish language and for her academic work, the Turkish Language Association reported on Friday. Shukrieva's award from the Turkish Language Association was presented by Turkiye's Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy at a ceremony held at the Ataturk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History in Ankara. Shukrieva graduated with a Master's degree in Turkish Philology from Shumen University in 1997. She began her professional career as a Turkish-language teacher and has been a lecturer in the University's Department of Turkish Language and Literature since 1999. In 2018, she defended her doctoral dissertation, Contemporary Turkish Legal Terminology, and in 2022 she became an associate professor.
