Constitutional Court to Mark 35th Anniversary with International Conference

Bulgaria's Constitutional Court will hold an international conference at the Central Military Club in Sofia on October 15 to mark its 35th anniversary, the court reported on Monday. The forum will be the conclusion of a series of events marking the development of constitutional justice in Bulgaria. Officials and delegations from constitutional jurisdictions in 31 countries across Europe, Asia and Africa will arrive in Bulgaria to take part in discussions on the role of constitutional courts in upholding the rule of law. Current issues concerning the composition and independence of constitutional courts, the implementation of their decisions by other state bodies, and the practice of constitutional jurisdictions in times of crisis will be on the agenda. The conference will be opened by Pavlina Panova, President of Bulgaria's Constitutional Court.
