Foreign Ministry: Bulgaria Signed UN Declaration on Ukraine to Support European Unity

Bulgaria supports European unity and, in this regard, has endorsed the declaration on Ukraine published by the United Nations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a written statement on Thursday. More than 50 countries signed the declaration, published prior to a meeting of the UN Security Council in New York, calling on Russia to agree to a full, immediate, and unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine and to begin substantive peace negotiations. According to a list posted on the website of the Foreign Ministry, Bulgaria is among the 51 countries that signed the declaration. A BTA check showed that the document was signed by all 27 EU Member States, as well as by the EU itself. Among the Balkan countries, Turkiye, Serbia, and Kosovo do not appear on the list. The Foreign Ministry's statement contains principled positions in defence of international law and a call for peace, which Bulgaria consistently supports.
