Romania Scraps Toll on Giurgiu–Ruse Danube Bridge

Romania will remove the toll for crossing the Danube Bridge from Giurgiu to Bulgaria’s Ruse сtarting October 1, Romania’s State Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Horatiu Cosma, told BTA on Friday. The move is expected to reduce long queues at toll points, particularly during peak travel periods, while improving regional connectivity and potentially boosting trade and tourism between Romania and Bulgaria. Romanian authorities have also proposed that Bulgaria consider removing the toll in the opposite direction, from Ruse to Giurgiu, with Cosma pointing out that existing agreements between the two countries allow for such changes without an additional bilateral agreement.
