Aleksandar Tomov Runs for President

Aleksandar Tomov is a presidential candidate in the upcoming elections on October 25 in accordance with a decision by the Central Election Commission. He was nominated by the "Bulgarian Social Democracy – Euro-Left" party, alongside vice-presidential candidate Sergey Indzhov. Tomov was born in Sofia in 1954. He began his higher education at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) in 1974. A year later, he continued his studies at St. Petersburg State University. In 1985, he was among the founders of the Political Science Department at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski." He was awarded a doctorate in economics in 1984 and was appointed Associate Professor in 1988. In June 1990, he was elected as a Member of Parliament to the Grand National Assembly. In 1990, he joined the leadership of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, and in December, he became Deputy Prime Minister in the coalition government led by Dimitar Popov.
