Prostate Cancer Awareness Month: new hope for men with medicine injections

For Harry Chilton, a Navy veteran living with stage 4 prostate cancer, a newer treatment offered at Sharp Memorial Hospital could give him more time with his wife, Sharon. They’ve been married 64 years. Chilton, who is celebrating his 83rd birthday this week, is receiving Pluvicto , a treatment administered through an IV that uses radioactive particles to target prostate cancer that has spread into his bones. “I’m glad they’re keeping me alive. I’ll tell you that,” Chilton said. A six week series of the injections comes after hormone treatments didn’t work for him. Each infusion of Pluvicto takes only about two minutes to administer.
