No criminal charges will be filed after a 93-year-old woman crashed into a restaurant in Lavallette , Ocean County, and killed one person, police said on Wednesday. The crash happened on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 11:12 a.m., after a 93-year-old woman was attempting to park a 2014 Buick Encore in front of Meg’s Grill on 1401 Grand Central Avenue in Lavallette, New Jersey. Police said the woman pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the SUV to rapidly accelerate into the outdoor dining area and then into the building. A 56-year-old woman from Toms River, New Jersey, was killed in the crash, police said. She has since been identified as Ursula Keating, the wife of Fire Chief John Keating of the Silverton Volunteer Fire Company. Seven customers were also injured, according to investigators. The 93-year-old driver, who has been identified as Jean S. Chomuk, of Lavallette, also suffered minor injuries. Although Chomuk will not face criminal charges, she was issued a Careless Driv
