PM Radev Says Authorities Tracing Assets, Businesses Abroad in Anti-Corruption Efforts

Prime Minister Rumen Radev said on Wednesday that the authorities are working with partner services to trace businesses, assets, properties and activities abroad as part of ongoing efforts to uncover possible corruption schemes. Radev was speaking to reporters at the Slivnitsa Training Centre, where he attended military capability demonstrations. His comments came amid scrutiny of Bulgaria’s Ambassador to the UAE Ivan Yordanov. At a government briefing on September 18, Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev said that a shell company which had allegedly paid for private flights taken by MRF leader Delyan Peevski and provided the aircraft was owned by Yordanov’s father. Peevski rejected the allegations as fabricated and said that he and his family had paid for his flights. Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova said on Wednesday that an on-site inspection of the embassy would take place in the coming weeks, with a Foreign Ministry team to travel to the UAE.
