Radoslav Rosenov Wins Gold at European Boxing Championships in Sofia

Radoslav Rosenov won Bulgaria's only gold at the European Boxing Championships held in Sofia. In the final of the men's 60 kg category on Friday, Rosenov defeated Ukrainian boxer Aider Abduraimov by unanimous decision. Rosenov, who sustained cuts to both eyebrows in his previous two matches, tried to fight on the counter-attack. This paid off in the second round, when he won the votes of the judges around the ring. In the third round, the bout got tense and was frequently interrupted. Rosenov suffered another cut above his right eyebrow. However, this did not stop the 22-year-old Bulgarian, and for the first time in his career, he was crowned European men's champion. The only other medal for Bulgaria in this tournament came from Rami Kiwan, who won bronze in the men's 75 kg category.
