NJ woman, 77, found guilty of murder in 81-year-old man's stabbing death

A 77-year-old Mays Landing, New Jersey, woman was found guilty this week of killing her 81-year-old domestic partner in an attack that happened in March of 2024 . On Tuesday, officials said, Eileen Bright, 77, was found guilty of murder, weapon possession and related offences following the March 31, 2024, stabbing death of her domestic partner, Gary Johnson, 81, in a home they shared along Lewis Drive in Mays Landing, New Jersey. According to court documents, following the attack, officers found Johnson at the scene after he had suffered multiple wounds to his head and body. During the trial, court documents note, prosecutors revealed that Bright used a kitchen knife and a household statue to commit the crime. Bright faces 30 years to life in prison, officials said, at her upcoming sentencing hearing scheduled for Oct. 27, 2026.
