MEP Ivaylo Valchev Pledges to Seek Inclusion of Iva Mihaylova Case in EP's Next North Macedonia Report

Interviewed by BTA, MEP Ivaylo Valchev (European Conservatives and Reformists/There Is Such a People) said a provision stressing the need for cross-border cooperation "when it comes to humanitarian cases" has been included in the conclusions of the 25th meeting of the EU-North Macedonia Joint Parliamentary Committee. Valchev is part of the European Parliament (EP) delegation attending the meeting in Skopje. "This is one of the positive things we achieved. We would have liked the case of Iva Mihaylova to be mentioned by name, but such documents avoid specifics. As the case dates from this year, we will do everything possible to have it mentioned by name in the EP's next report on the progress of the Republic of North Macedonia," Valchev told BTA. In his statement during the human rights session, he spoke about Mihaylova's case and met her in Kocani on Thursday. Iva Mihaylova is a citizen of both Bulgaria and North Macedonia.
