The Cambridge Public Health Department reports state tests of the water in the Charles River between Cambridge and Boston showed levels of cyanobacteria below levels of concern, so public health officials have listed their advisory against coming into contact with river water because of the toxins the microorganisms produce. Public-health official on either side of the river began warning about river contact on Aug. 21 - the toxin can make people sick but kill dogs.
