Man arrested for allegedly shooting arrows at passing cars in Yorkshire village

A 68-year-old man has been detained under the Mental Health Act after a bow and arrow was fired at passing vehicles in a West Yorkshire village. Police were called to Huddersfield Road in Skelmanthorpe at about 5.37pm yesterday after receiving reports of a man acting erratically, including throwing rubbish and household items from a car while driving. Further calls were then received reporting that the man had got out of the vehicle and was firing a bow and arrow in the street and at passing vehicles. Armed officers were deployed, but the man was restrained by members of the public before police arrived. West Yorkshire Police said no one was injured, although a number of vehicles were damaged after being struck by arrows. The man was initially taken into police custody before being detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act. He
