As warnings about exponential AI development, autonomous digital agents, and apocalyptic scenarios proliferate, right-wing media remain split about whether or not AI could “kill us all.” Fox News has hewn close to President Donald Trump’s stance on the technology, questioning calls to slow down the development of AI and fretting that regulation could benefit China in the “AI arms race.” However, a handful of Trump allies and right-wing media figures — like Tucker Carlson, Steve Bannon, and Roger Stone — have expressed concern over AI's capabilities and the potential for a future in which “machines are running the country,” with some calling for regulatory action.
