Vazrazhdane Leader Kostadinov: Lesson of Bulgarian Independence Is That We Can Do Things on Our Own

“The lesson of September 22 and of Bulgarian independence is that we can do things on our own, that we can be independent,” Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov said on Facebook on the occasion of the 118th anniversary of Bulgaria’s declaration of independence. Nowadays, we are being told that we cannot manage on our own and cannot be independent – this is the greatest challenge we face, Kostadinov said. "Today, unfortunately, Bulgarian independence has become more of a symbol than something with real substance, something that we can actually feel around us," Kostadinov said. “When we mark these important dates, we are actually paying tribute to what our ancestors did, and we should ask ourselves what we want to be like in the time when we point to the deeds of our predecessors as an example.
