Three officers injured, dog shot and killed during attack in Humboldt Park

A dog was shot and killed by police after an attack left three officers injured in Humboldt Park on Monday, authorities said. At around 4:52 p.m., officers conducting an investigation near North Christiana Avenue and West Huron Street were approached by an unknown dog that attacked an officer. The officer opened fire, striking and killing the dog. Three officers sustained non-life threatening injuries in the attack and were taken to area hospitals in good condition. Chicago police said animal control officers were notified of the incident. Area Four detectives are investigating.
