When Neil Jordan’s “Interview with the Vampire” debuted in 1994, it had a mixed critical reaction, as the period horror flick starred Brad Pitt , Tom Cruise , a young Kirsten Dunst before she truly broke out as a leading actress, Christian Slater , and also featured Antonio Banderas . So, there has always been the thought that a longer, more fleshed-out version of the film from the director could maybe iron out some of the issues folks had with the original theatrical version, but the filmmaker says the original version of the film is sadly lost.
