Machete-armed man arrested after allegedly assaulting juvenile in Sunnyvale

A man allegedly struck a juvenile on the forehead with the flat side of a machete blade during a confrontation in Sunnyvale Saturday evening, officials said. The reported assault happened in the area of Central and Lincoln avenues, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (DPS). The man allegedly confronted three juveniles who were riding their bikes in the area. During that confrontation is when the man allegedly hit one of the juveniles with the machete, DPS said. The man fled the scene in his vehicle, but he was later located by authorities with the help of automatic license plate reader technology, DPS said. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into jail. DPS said the three juveniles were OK following the incident.
