Naperville man, 70, fatally shot in Greater Grand Crossing

A 70-year-old Naperville man who was looking for homes to flip was fatally shot in Chicago's Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood Saturday. A homeowner called 911 about 10:15 a.m. Saturday when they noticed a vehicle parked in the alley, blocking their garage and couldn't get out in the 7000 block of South Calumet Avenue, according to a police report. Responding officers found the unidentified 70-year-old, slumped over the driving wheel of his truck, shot in the head, police said. A single shell casing from a 9mm gun was found in the passenger's seat. Police then recovered video nearby that showed an "unknown male" exit the victim's vehicle at about 8:15 p.m. Friday and walk away. A relative of the 70-year-old said he was in the area looking for homes to flip, according to the report. Area 1 detectives are investigating.
