Starting Monday, New York is sending out energy rebate checks of up to $200 as part of a previously announced initiative to help residents pay their utility bills amid higher living costs. There are no logistical hoops. A total of 8.2 million households across the state will receive checks. The mailing will last into December. Hochul says she is allocating the funds because of rising costs of heat in the winter and air conditioning in the summer. Soaring gas prices compound concerns.
