Investigator Boyko Atanasov Puts Forward His Candidacy for Election to Supreme Judicial Council

Investigator Boyko Atanasov of the Sofia City Prosecution Office Investigation Department has put forward his candidacy for election as a member of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) from the investigators' quota, the SJC said. Atanasov said his work to date as an independent magistrate morally obliged him to take part in the election procedure, the SJC said. He also said he met the statutory criteria, having repeatedly demonstrated high professional and ethical qualities. He expressed readiness to use his professional and life experience to contribute to improving the judiciary, safeguarding its independence and raising the ethical standards of the SJC. Atanasov served as an investigator at the Sofia Investigation Service between 2002 and 2009. Following its restructuring, he has continued to serve as an investigator in the Sofia City Prosecution Office Investigation Department, the SJC said.
