LUNAR Festival Draws More Than 85,000 Visitors in Sofia

The LUNAR light festival in Sofia was attended by more than 85,000 residents and visitors from September 17 to 20, Sofia Municipality said on Monday. During the festival, seven artists and studios from six countries presented works created for the architecture and scale of central Sofia under the theme “Urban Pulse.” The light show used the facades of the Council of Ministers, Parliament and Presidency in the centre of Sofia. The festival featured an immersive video mapping competition, in which the audience helped choose the winner, with Chinese studio SKG+ receiving the most votes for Pink Punk. The jury award went to Czech studio Metanoia Creatives for Incidence. Between the competition works, a special programme dedicated to Sofia featured more than 800 iconic images projected onto the Largo. The festival was organized by Sofia Municipality and MP-STUDIO. In August, LUNAR also held its second Black Sea edition along Bulgaria’s southern coast under the theme “A Sea of Lights.”
