Central European Congress on Food Kicks Off in Plovdiv

The 13th Central European Congress on Food, CEFood 2026, officially opened in Plovdiv on Thursday. The international forum has been organized by the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv, with Congress Management & Events Ltd as its congress partner. CEFood 2026 brings together scientists, academics, representatives of the food industry, entrepreneurs and young researchers from Bulgaria and abroad. The scientific programme will feature the latest developments in food science and technology, biotechnology, food engineering, industrial technologies, tourism and hospitality, as well as interdisciplinary solutions linking science with practice. The prestigious international forum was opened by Galin Ivanov, Rector of the University of Food Technologies. He said that the food system is currently facing serious challenges, including climate change, limited resources, the need to reduce waste, changing consumer attitudes and rapid technological progress.
