Second village set to hold independence vote over Labour plan to move in 'fighting-age' migrants within months

A second village is set to hold a Piddington-style independence vote over Labour's plan to move in "fighting-age" migrants to the local area. The referendum, which is not legally binding, will serve as a symbolic statement to oppose the accommodation of 1,250 male asylum seekers. Protests have already erupted outside RAF Barnham following the plans being announced in June. The leafy village has a hall, church and primary school but no other amenities such as a shop or pub. Last week's Piddington vote, which was dubbed by locals the "Battle for Britain", saw a staggering 92 per cent back independence. Just 26 local residents voted to remain in the UK.
