Bird Flu Outbreak Detected in Plovdiv Region

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has detected an outbreak of influenza A (avian flu) at a livestock facility in the village of Momino Selo, Rakovski Municipality, Plovdiv Region. Around 8,000 mule ducks are raised at the facility, the agency said. A 3-kilometer protection zone has been established around the affected facility, covering the village of Momino Selo, Rakovski Municipality, Plovdiv Region, and the village of Glavatar, Kaloyanovo Municipality, Plovdiv Region. A 10-kilometer surveillance zone has also been established. Measures have been taken to control and eradicate the disease in accordance with European and national legislation. Cleaning and disinfection of the affected facility, equipment, and vehicles are planned.
