Nomination Committee Registers Iotova-Valchev Presidential Ticket

The nomination committee for the Iliana Iotova-Kiril Valchev tandem has registered them for the October 25 election for president and vice president of Bulgaria. On Monday, the co-chairs of the committee and vice-presidential candidate Valchev submitted more than 9,000 signatures to the Central Election Commission in support of the pair as independent nominees in the election. Valchev said Iotova is not with them because she left for New York, where she will address the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. Iotova is the incumbent President of Bulgaria. Ahead of Independence Day (September 22), Valchev said: "I want to send a message to all candidates, the one that was set out in the Manifesto of Independence: that the Bulgarian people and their head of state can have nothing but the same thoughts and a common desire."
