Philadelphia Ballet officially marked the opening of its new dance center Friday on North Broad Street. On Friday morning, Philadelphia Ballet leaders, elected officials and community members gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Center for Dance, which brings together professional dance, student training and community engagement. “Years in the planning, the unveiling of this next step for Philadelphia Ballet is a landmark moment in the company’s history. As we invest in the future of our organization, we also invest in the future of Philadelphia, and reaffirm our commitment to serving the vibrant and diverse communities of our city,” said David F. Hoffman, board chairman. The five-story, 58,000-square-foot building is the centerpiece of Philadelphia Ballet’s $45 million Building Joy campaign.
