10 protesters maced by federal agents outside Broadview ICE facility, 2 hospitalized

Ten protesters were maced by ICE agents outside an immigration facility in a western suburb of Chicago on Saturday, village officials said, leaving two hospitalized. Around 2:30 p.m., federal agents sprayed 10 people with mace as they protested outside the Broadview ICE facility located at 1930 Beach St. in Broadview, Illinois, according to village spokesperson David Ormsby. “According to some of the protestors, they related that they were ‘staging’ in the middle of street and blockings ICE agents from entering/exiting onto the property, which ensued confrontation with the ICE agents,” Ormsby said. Broadview Fire EMS responded to the scene and provided medical attention to the protesters. Two people were taken to a local hospital and the others refused to be transported, Ormsby said. None of the people who were maced are Broadview residents. No additional information was immediately available.
