Composer and conductor Gustav Mahler

Gustav Mahler was taught by musicians in Jihlava and developed a deep sensitivity to the musical culture of the region, which later found its way into his work, alongside elements of Jewish folk music. However in later years, opera dominated his work and he is considered one of the greatest composers of symphonic music of all time.
