September Issue of LIK Magazine Dedicated to 125th Anniversary of Sofia's First Tram

The September issue of LIK magazine is entitled "Sofia from Its First Tram to Nowadays". The issue is dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the first tram setting off in the capital, which happened in January 1901, making Sofia the seventh European city and one of the first European capitals to have electric public transport. The magazine will be presented in BTA on Thursday at 5 p.m. LIK Editor-in-Chief Assoc. Prof. Georgi Lozanov wrote in the introduction to this issue that the tram is an enduring symbol of Sofia in terms of lifestyle and evokes a certain image of a way of life, much like one's favourite places, food, clothing, manners, sports, music, celebrities, and slang. The magazine features a short story by the Patriarch of Bulgarian literature, Ivan Vazov. The text was inspired by a tram trip that he took in 1901.
