Orioles’ Kyle Bradish diagnosed with sports hernia; Jackson Holliday hits IL

NEW YORK — Testing in Baltimore on right-hander Kyle Bradish, whom the Orioles placed on the injured list Sunday, revealed the starter has a sports hernia. Although surgery is an option, manager Craig Albernaz said the Orioles and Bradish are evaluating every possibility. In addition, the Orioles placed infielder Jackson Holliday on the 10-day injured list due to left wrist inflammation. His injury designation is retroactive to Tuesday, which means he could return before the regular season ends. To replace Holliday, Baltimore selected the contract of infielder José Barrero. Barrero is a utility fielder who is hitting .202 with a .705 OPS at Triple-A Norfolk. It’s that time of year for major leaguers. “He’s banged up,” Albernaz said of Holliday. “All of our guys are banged up.
