Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a 71-year-old man on a bicycle in Pompano Beach last month. Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said deputies had responded to the 1700 block of Northwest 6th Avenue around 4:45 a.m. on Aug. 23 after receiving a report of a person lying on the side of the road near a bicycle. Deputies found the victim, Jacob Robinson, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Jacob Robinson The bicycle appeared to have been struck by a vehicle and the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office found Robinson’s injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle, officials said. Authorities haven’t released a description of the vehicle but said the incident remains under investigation. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
