nbcdfw.com · 7h · first report

Five railcars left the tracks near Dalrock and Chiesa roads in Rowlett on Wednesday afternoon, closing Dalrock Road into the evening. According to Malcolm Hornsby with the city of Rowlett, track failure is being blamed for derailing the railcars just before 2 p.m. Hornsby said at about 3:15 p.m. that an engineer was headed to the scene to assess the situation and determine the most efficient way to clear the railcars. By 4 p.m., Hornsby said crews with the Dallas, Garland & Northeastern Railroad were working to clear the derailment. Both northbound and southbound Dalrock Road remain closed between Chiesa Road and Sunrise Drive. The road is not expected to reopen before 10 p.m. No injuries have been reported.
