Troyan Municipality, UNESCO Regional Centre Sign Cultural Heritage Partnership

Troyan Municipality and the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in South-Eastern Europe, under the auspices of UNESCO, signed a memorandum of cooperation and partnership on Wednesday. The agreement was signed at the Museum of Folk Arts and Crafts in Troyan by Mayor Donka Mihaylova and the Centre’s Executive Director, Assoc. Prof. Irena Todorova. The memorandum focuses on safeguarding living traditions, customs, knowledge and skills; passing them on to future generations; exchanging expertise and good practices; and developing joint programmes and projects related to intangible cultural heritage. Particular attention will be given to engaging young people as future bearers of traditional knowledge and crafts. Mihaylova emphasized that Troyan is committed to preserving and developing its traditions and presenting them to wider audiences, expressing hope that the partnership will help bring the town’s cultural heritage to the world.
