Dog found in NY town with muzzle bound shut with electrical tape, officials say

An abandoned dog was found in a New York town with its muzzle bound shut with electrical tape, officials said. The female German shepherd was found around 8 a.m. Tuesday in Brewster at a business on Starr Ridge Road, according to the Putnam County SPCA. The dog’s muzzle was tightly wrapped with what was believed to be black electrical tape. Workers at the business did what they could to help the dog and took her to the nearby Brewster Veterinary Hospital. The dog had significant swelling, irritation and noticeable injuries around its muzzle, the SPCA said. There were also abrasions to the front and back of the dog’s neck where a collar would typically be found, raising concerns that the pup may have worn an embedded collar before being abandoned. The dog was being cared for by veterinarians.
